Drty Grlz, Great Rides

Monday nights this summer have been all about getting dirty on the trails for a group of local women. The Drty Grlz are a group of area women who’ve been meeting up every Monday night for group rides all around the hills, led by the amazing Lisa Gustin. Below are a couple of pictures taken on the trail.

Here’s a group photo that managed to capture many, but not all of the ladies (click the pic for a larger version):

Strider Sports has reserved the Rapid City, SD dirt jump/freeride park for the afternoon of Saturday, September 20th. The event starts at 1pm but come whenever your schedule allows. The dirt jump park is a great place to play, with lots of fun dirt mounds and trails and open areas. There are spots for the complete beginners to walk their bikes around on the flats and big mounds, and log obstacles for the more advanced kids to test their skills on. The event is free to all Strider riders and their pit crews (parents/grandparents)! Strider Sports will be providing cookies and juice. Parents, we recommend bringing a lawn chair or two, remember the helmet and sturdy shoes. Check out the Strider Sports website for more information.

It’s time again for the Black Hills Single Speed Championship in Rockerville. Meet in Rockerville (south of Rapid City on Hwy 16) at 9:15 AM on Sunday, Sept. 14. Registration will take place until 9:45 and the race begins at 10:00 AM sharp. Shotgun start — each rider must consume a 12 oz beverage before leaving the start line, then another after crossing. You may bring your own beverages; some basic 12 oz beverages will be provided. Geared bikes are certainly allowed, but are ineligible to win the much coveted TITLE OF BLACK HILLS SINGLE SPEED CHAMPION!!

Enjoy some fun, burn off some Labor Day bratwursts. The fee to race is $15, but if you are feeling broke, or using that an excuse to be a no-show, we’ll make arrangements that will allow you to race anyway. Come on out this Sunday for a great race.
