Recent Events

A lot of things have been going on lately in the area. The Black Hills Fat Tire Festival just wrapped up yesterday, May 26. Although Rapid City and the surrounding areas received an unbelievable amount of rain on Friday and Saturday the event was a great success. We had a lot of great folks from all over come out to ride with us. The Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists even have a Black Hills forum on their website. We hope to see everyone out next year.

The Rapid City Dirt Jump Park got some finishing touches and an expert line courtesy of pro rider Jeff Lenosky just before the rain began to fall. The park is currently soaked but it will be just fine as long as everyone leaves it alone for a week or so to dry out. The tape and orange fence will come down when it’s ready to ride again.

Again, please stay out of the dirt jump park until it has dried out!

The 2nd annual Black Hills Fat Tire Festival wrapped up yesterday and despite the deluge it went really well. A special thanks goes out to all of the folks who worked so hard to make the festival a success. We especially want to thank Jerry Cole and the city Parks and Rec Dept. for all that they did.  A lot of folks volunteered to lead group rides, man race stations, drive shuttles, and much more. We hope to see all of you back next year.

There will be women’s group rides each Monday night through the summer. The following is the tentative schedule: continue reading…

The last few days have made a huge difference in the shape of the park. The intermediate jump line is now in:

The second pumptrack is almost dialed in and ready to ride:

Lots of people of all ages have stopped in to lend a hand, ask questions, or just ride:

If you haven’t been down to the park yet, come on down. If you can spare an hour or two to use a rake, shovel, or watering can please pitch in. If you’re a rider, come on down and hit it.
