As part of the ribbon cutting ceremony for the RC dirt jump park the winning tickets were drawn for the fundraising raffle. Prizes were graciously donated by Acme Bicycles, Giant, and Two Wheeler Dealer. These prizes include helmets, clothing, and two bikes. The winners were:

The Rapid City dirt jump park was officially opened at a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday evening. The park is the result of a partnership between the city and bhmba to provide a safe, sustainable recreation area for all riders of all skill levels.

The park “sheriff” Kelly Combs spoke about the construction of the park and the ongoing effort to maintain and improve it.

The race will not be held August 17 as previously scheduled. It’s possible that it will be rescheduled at a later date or that a group ride will be held in lieu of the race. Check back for more info.
What: Dirt Jump Park Workday
When: Sunday June 29th. 9am to Noon
Where: Rapid City DJ Park-East of U-Haul/North of Aborezk Law Firm in the area of Mt View and West Chicago Street.
Parking: Do NOT Park on the road adjacent to the park-you will get a parking ticket. Please park on the east or west side of Aborezk Law Firm, or at Founders Park.
We need volunteers of all ages and abilities. Stop by for 15 minutes or 3 hours-bring your bike and give the log rides, pump tracks, and jumps a try during breaks and post work. Gloves and eye protection are recommended-along with helmet, knee/shin and elbow pads if riding. Shovels, rakes, are available at the site. Beverages and snacks will be provided. The area is in good shape considering the rain and flooding. Tasks will include shaping jumps, cleaning up the area of debris, and a bit of landscaping. Ridge Riders of the Black Hills are again hosting the Tinton Trail Time Trials June 21-22. The event includes a Hill Climb, Super D race, and more. Full information on the event is found on the Ridge Riders’ website.
Despite some seriously soggy conditions the XC race went on as scheduled. A large group camped out at Dalton Lake the night before and had a great time. The weather Sunday was very nice for racing as well. Results for this race and for the earlier race at Rockerville can be found on the results page.
Thanks to all who helped put on the race and those who came out to ride. We hope to have pre-registration available online soon for the point-to-point race from Elk Creek to Alkali. Check back here for more info.
