Cyclocross Races

A cyclocross (short course ATB/ running) race will be help Saturday, December 12 and 19 at 9:00 AM. The location is Ralph Cole Arboretum across Sheridan Lake Road from Story Book Island. The event is free, so come on out to race or just to ride a few laps. 8 laps for the “A” division, 6 for the “B” division, and 2 laps for runners.

Hanson Larsen Memorial Park Run Ride Run

Come out to Hanson Larsen Memorial Park at M-Hill on Saturday, November 14 at 9:00 AM to run and ride. It will be a free, casual event starting on the east side, by the new buildings and parking lots. The course is a 1.5 mile trail run, 8+ mile bike ride, then another loop on the trail run. Teams or individuals are welcome. There is no registration and you don’t have to come out to win. Got no running shoes? Just show up with you bike.  Got not bike? Just show up with your running shoes.  Come have some fun with an elevated heart rate.  Count this off your Thanksgiving feast. A couple of volunteers are needed to be course marshals and to keep an eye on the bikes.

10/10/10K at Buzzard’s Roost

The Black Hills Runner’s Club will be hosting a 10K trail run on October 10 at 10 AM at Buzzard’s Roost. This trail run is part of the BHRC Trail Series; $5 from each non-member entry fee will go towards helping the BHMBA build and maintain this and other trails in the area. Far West Trail Connected on M-Hill

The Hanson-Larsen park on M-Hill continues to grow thanks to Dave Dessel and various volunteers who’ve been working hard on a new trail on the west side of the hill. The trail is now connected from the road near the dirt jump park up to the M-West node on top of the hill near the M. Volunteers from BHMBA as well as other interested parties have been working with Dave on finishing the newly cut trail. Below are a few shots of the work:

Bearlodge Mountain Classic

If you’re free on Sunday, September 20, head on over to Sundance for the Bearlodge Mountain Classic mountain bike race. Registration starts at 7 AM, riders leave at 9 AM. Ride the 14 mile Beginner/Intermediate course or the 22 mile Epic. Check out the scgmba website for more info.

Strider Sports August Fun Race

Here’s a notice from the Strider Bike folks about an upcoming event:

Strider Running Bike riders will be flying high again at the Robbinsdale BMX track in Robbinsdale Park off Fairmont Blvd. on Sunday August 16th. Take a look at our video of the July 17th event. The kids had tons of fun and they learned a lot from their fellow riders.

Rider signup is at 5:30. The races will start at 6:30. There is a $1.00 participation fee for Strider riders. We will have a class for 2-3 year olds and a class for 4-5 year olds. Parents and spectators are FREE. There’s also a great concession stand at the track. As always, the more riders there are, the more fun we have. So come one, come all. We’ll see you there!
